Need more than a subscription package?

If you’re looking for a specific combination of modules, our Perpetual Licenses (Professional and Essential) are available for you. The Professional License offers highest level functionality, flexibility and compute capability. The Essential License is our entry level license, competitively priced but with some limitations.

At the local and global levels we offer an umbrella of activities to support our users in the understanding and application of our software and technologies: training courses, webinars, chats, user group meetings, expert seminars and round-tables.

Questions / Answers

A: Absolutely! The new subscription packages replace short term module rentals, so if you need a MIKE Desktop product for only a short time, subscription is the way to go. Get in touch with one of our representatives via the form below to find a package that best suits your needs.

A: The minimum period of subscription for API packages is 12 months. All other packages are also available for 12 months, except the 1 Concurrent User variants which are also available as a monthly subscription, with a 2-month minimum period. The monthly subscription is a great way to try out the MIKE applications before deciding to commit for longer.

A: Yes, the monthly subscription cost is 20% more than the equivalent monthly rate of an annual subscription. A monthly subscription can be upgraded to an annual subscription at any time (to take advantage of the cheaper monthly rate) by purchasing a new 12-month subscription that commences on the same date the monthly subscription expires.

A: A monthly subscription is initially invoiced at the start of the contract for the full 2-month minimum period, after which invoices will be issued monthly. An annual subscription is initially invoiced for the full 1-year period in advance.

A: Subscriptions will be invoiced automatically 2 weeks prior to the end of the subscription period, unless DHI receives a written request for termination.

A: Yes, all subscriptions come with DHI’s renowned software support for the period of the subscription.

A: The 2 Concurrent User subscription (and 5, 10 & 25 concurrent users) will unlock unlimited simulations for all the engines included in the subscription (enabling the use of cloud computing resources). This option adds significant value and is a game changer to your project or study delivery deadlines.

A: Unless specifically referenced (i.e. marine subscriptions which have a choice of one or two add-on modules), adding modules to a subscription is not permitted. Extended functionality can be achieved by combining two or more subscription packages (for example: Flooding + Hydrology & Hydraulics to get advanced structure operations in rivers). We know that not all integrated simulation scenarios are covered by the subscription packages, so if you need a very specific combination of modules, contact your local DHI Office for perpetual license pricing.

A: No, a 1 Concurrent User subscription of the Flooding package allows 1 user of the MIKE Zero GUI (for building 2D Overland and 1D River models) and 1 user of the MIKE URBAN+ ArcGIS GUI, at the same time. That’s great value and really flexible. Same applies for the Groundwater subscription package (1 user of FEFLOW and 1 user of MIKE Zero, at the same time).
A: Some modules have pre-requisite requirements (like process modules requiring HD), so where there is only one choice (Ports & Maritime, Coastal Engineering and Environmental Engineering), available choices are reduced. But remember, when you choose a MIKE 3 module, the corresponding MIKE 21 module comes with it.
A: Bonus modules are modules that DHI no longer sells as perpetual licenses. The only way to access these modules now is via subscription and as part of valid SMA (annual maintenance) of other Professional (perpetual) licenses.
A: No, chart data can be purchased as an add-on to Marine subscriptions that include MIKE C-MAP. Contact your local DHI Office if you want to know more about MIKE C-MAP and/or C-Map chart data.
A: No, perpetual licenses and subscriptions that are both hosted on your companies Internet License Server cannot be combined. Contact your local DHI Office to find out more about DHI’s Internet License Server (powered by Microsoft Azure).
A: Default delivery of a subscription license is DHI’s Internet License Server. API Packages (MIKE1D and DHI EPANET) can be issued as a network license (with dongle), at additional cost (400€ per dongle). Contact your local DHI Office to get a quote in local currency.

Hydraulic Services for Water Intake and Outlet Systemsv2

Hydraulic Services

SOLUTION

Water Intakes, Pumping Stations and Outlet Optimisation

Ensure a proper evaluation of your power and industrial plant’s intake system, pumps and outfall design before construction for improved performance

What you can achieve

Power and industrial plants often draw water from neighbouring rivers and oceans to maintain water supply. Specialised extraction systems complete with an intake velocity cap, intake pipeline and pumping station, help move filtered water to the plant – while outlet structures and diffusers discharge water to the environment.

These systems must meet international standards while operating efficiently and sustainably. That’s where we come in. From engineering desk studies to state-of-the-art numerical and physical modelling, DHI’s world-leading hydraulic services team can help you achieve:

Design conformance

Our specialists will ensure all designs conform to international guidelines (ANSI/HI 9.8) and best practices

Cost savings

To mitigate pressure loss, we conduct flow evaluations inside the velocity cap, identify 'dead zones' in the pumping station and assess sedimentation & outlet diffuser dilution capacity

Less wear and tear

Through an optimised approach to water flow and pump inlets, you'll experience less vortex formations and wear and tear on the system.

Improved management

By avoiding critical water surface surges due to sudden changes in the pumping rates, you can manage start-up and emergency scenarios with more confidence

Minimal plume recirculation

Modifications to the layout of outfall and intake systems can help to significantly reduce plume recirculation

A one-stop shop for all your inlet/outfall hydraulic service needs

Hydraulic services at a glance

Engineering desk studies

To ensure alignment with international best practices, our specialists calculate head loss and evaluate your designs against the ANSI/HI 9.8 guidelines.

Adapted from ANSI/HI 9.8 Guidelines

Transient analysis

These studies are designed to provide a greater understanding of the transient effects of the water surface in a pumping station during a pump start up and pump trip.

3D flow simulations

To identify problematic areas, test remedial measures and optimise the design, we use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate the 3D fluid flow in and around intake and outfall structures.

Physical modelling experiments

For final verification of the structures, we conduct physical model experiments in accordance with ANSI/HI 9.8 guidelines. These experiments are especially useful for observing complex phenomena such as vortex generation and pre-swirl at pump bell mouths and the mixing of air in outfall structures.

Explore additional intake and outfall solutions

  • Hydrodynamic force calculations to support structural design
  • Scour assessment around the bottom of fixed structures, such as velocity caps
  • Systems optimisation by evaluating remedial measures such as baffles and floor splitters
  • Assessment of air entrainment into the intake system caused by offshore waves
  • Sediment reduction as a result of intake system optimisation

Major updates in

MIKE 21/3

Model bed load and mixed sand and mud transport with the new ‘Near-bed transport model’
Want to better support dredging initiatives by modelling bed load transport? Introducing an entirely new scientific concept in the world of dredging – the ‘Near-bed transport’ model.
To represent mixed sediment transport more accurately, calculate the transport of sand for combined waves and currents near the bed and consider simultaneously suspended load for pure currents in the remainder of the water column. Plus, you can account for sand spilling into the water column from dredging operations.
Speed up your MIKE 21 MA workflows by specifying wind & current conditions using a new option
As a MIKE 21 Mooring Analysis (MA) user, you may have found that dynamic wind and current information is often sparse.
To work more efficiently with mooring analysis software, a new option is now available for specifying current and wind conditions. Constant values can now be used in cases where no dynamic data is available. In fact, you can specify constant current and wind conditions directly in the GUI and engine – thus eliminating the need to prepare timeseries for wind and currents.
Better assess the impact of a tailing dam break with new options for simulating non-Newtonian fluids
In response to recent tailing dam break incidents, mining companies are actively seeking ways to better assess their risk. However, modelling tailing dam breach in MIKE 21 has been a challenge because the current technology does not represent fluids not following Newton’s law of viscosity.
Therefore, to simulate non-Newtonian fluids, a new option is now available in MIKE 21 FM for specifying fluid properties including density, Bingham fluid viscosity and yield stress. This solution enables you to better assess the impact of a tailing dam break, fulfil legal requirements and address potential scrutiny. Plus, by including the Mud Transport module in your simulations, fluid properties can vary in time and space to represent mixing of non-Newtonian fluids with water.

Major updates in

FEFLOW

Model ODEL Hydromechanical processes using the improved hydro-mechanical coupling plug-in
As a FEFLOW user, you may wish to model hydro-mechanical processes for land subsidence, surface loads changes, underground tunnelling or mine dewatering applications – but it hasn’t seemed feasible.
In response to your feedback, our development team made significant improvements to the hydro-mechanical coupling plug-in as part of FEFLOW 7.4. Users can now better assess changes in effective stress via the application of modified Hooke’s Law and the resulting variations in porosity, hydraulic conductivity and storage coefficient. In addition, you can visualise settlement induced by local deformation when working with layered 3D meshes.

Major updates in

MIKE+

Document emergency storage requirements using the new Pump Emergency Storage Tool

When designing a new sewer system or modifying an existing one, obtaining an operating license is an exciting milestone. But compiling required operational and emergency procedure documentation is a chore.

With the new Pump Emergency Storage tool, you can automatically calculate available emergency storage and time in the event of a pump failure – before alarm level is reached or sewer overflow happens. If a pump failure were to occur, you can stop or delay upstream flows of a failed pump. In addition, the embedded network tracing tool eliminates the burden of locating the lowest overflow level for each pumping station.
Investigate coastal flooding issues by connecting to your MIKE 21/3 FM model
When studying storm surges on coastal communities, it is important to properly represent the generation of extreme water levels in enclosed areas. Properly accounting for the offshore generation of high water levels and extreme coastal flows requires modellers to investigate the marine domain in 3D. For an holistic risk assessment, rivers and estuaries also need to be considered to account for back water effect and related induced riverine floodings.

As part of the latest Release, users can now dynamically couple a 2D or 3D marine model with a river (and collection system network) in MIKE+. Use this information to better understand coastal flooding issues such as the impact of storm surge and tidal rivers on your city’s flood risk as well as stratification patterns like the mixing of freshwater into a saline environment.

Major updates in

WEST

Improve the sustainability of WWTPs using a new model to calculate carbon footprint
WWTPs are known to release large amounts of greenhouse gases. In an effort to help reduce their carbon footprint, WEST users need to more easily identify critical process units based on their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.
Therefore, we’ve developed a new model that accurately tracks both direct (from process units) and indirect (energy, chemicals, etc) greenhouse gas emissions. This helps users compare operational strategies based on their respective carbon footprint and identify the most suitable ones to help achieve more sustainable WWTP operations.

The new 2D Overland Module in MIKE URBAN+ offers efficient ways to model flooding
MIKE URBAN+ supports integrated 2D flood modelling. Create 2D flood maps in a continuous workflow – from building meshes to simulating floods and viewing results.

XXX-Hydraulic Services for Water Intake and Outlet Systems

Hydraulic Services

SOLUTION

Water Intakes, Pumping Stations and Outlet Optimisation

Improved power and industrial plant
performance through leading hydraulic design support

Ensure a proper evaluation of your plant’s intake system, pumps and outfall design before construction to drive sustainable and cost-efficient design.

Adapted from ANSI/HI 9.8 Guidelines

Engineering desk studies

Involves head loss calculations and the evaluation of designs against the ANSI/HI 9.8 guidelines to ensure alignment with international best practices.

For final verification of the structures, physical model experiments are conducted, also in accordance with ANSI/HI 9.8 guidelines.
